SEO for local transport apps in the UAE that drives installs

Riders search for a taxi app in Dubai, a bus route in Sharjah or an airport ride price, then install whichever app answers first. App stores rank brand names, not those questions. We build web pages and store listings that capture those searches and send riders into the app.

Direct answer

Why does a transport app need SEO if it lives in the app stores?

Because many rider questions are asked on Google before anyone opens a store, and they are about routes, prices, cities and rules rather than app names. A website with pages per city, route, service type and fare answers those queries and deep-links into the app. App store optimisation then handles brand and category searches inside the stores. Licensing by the RTA in Dubai or the ITC in Abu Dhabi is a trust signal riders look for on both.

The market

Dubai's taxi and ride-hailing market in 2025

Booking by app is now the norm for a large part of the market. The RTA reports that Dubai's 14,476 taxis carried 209.02 million passengers on 120.1 million trips in 2025, and 45% of taxi trips were completed through e-hail platforms. The limousine sector, under which app-booked private cars run, grew faster: 41 million trips, up 25%, with 35 new limousine companies and about 15,000 vehicles on e-hail platforms. Dubai Taxi Company alone ran 6,217 taxis and 658 limousines and completed 53 million trips. Pricing changed in November 2025, when the RTA raised the minimum fare for app-booked taxis from AED 12 to AED 13 and added peak-hour booking fees, leaving street-hail fares unchanged. Driverless rides arrived in August 2026, when Baidu's Apollo Go robotaxis went live on Uber in parts of Umm Suqeim and Jumeirah.

  • Dubai taxi ridership rose 4.2% in 2025, from 200.65 million to 209.02 million passengers.
  • Limousine trips in Dubai rose from 32.8 million in 2024 to 41 million in 2025.
  • Dubai Taxi Company reported AED 2.47 billion revenue in 2025, 13% more than in 2024.
  • Uber and Baidu launched fully driverless Apollo Go rides in Dubai on 20 August 2026.
RTA authorisation, and Abu Dhabi Mobility separately

In Dubai, on-demand passenger transport booked through smart applications is an authorised activity under Executive Council Resolution No. 6 of 2016, amended in 2021. The RTA's Public Transport Agency issues a one-year authorisation, and taxi and luxury cab drivers need their own RTA authorisations. The resolution's fines schedule also covers marketing: promoting passenger transport by cars not licensed in Dubai is a listed violation. App-booked taxi fares are set by the RTA, as the November 2025 change showed, so fare pages must follow its tariff. In Abu Dhabi, taxis and their booking are licensed by Abu Dhabi Mobility, the Integrated Transport Centre. Since 1 February 2026, individuals publishing advertising content in the UAE, such as influencers promoting an app, need a UAE Media Council Advertiser Permit.

Why listings stall

What keeps local transport apps off page one

Quoting fares that no longer apply

Dubai app-booked taxi fares changed in November 2025, with a higher minimum and peak-hour booking fees, while street-hail fares did not. A fare page written before then, or showing one fare for both, gets wrong which is cheaper, a question People also ask raises. Date every fare and link to the RTA's tariff.

Treating the store listing as separate from SEO

Careem's and Yango's App Store listings both rank on Google's first page for "taxi app dubai", with ratings and full reviews visible. The listing's title, description, screenshots, release notes and replies to reviews are read by people searching Google, not only by people browsing the store.

Writing "RTA approved" without saying what for

Riders comparing apps want to know whether one books licensed taxis, licensed limousines or both. A vague approval claim does not answer that. State the authorisation you hold, which operators supply the cars, and which emirates it covers, since Abu Dhabi Mobility licenses separately from the RTA.

Ignoring the guides and forums that rank

Four of the ten results are a Reddit thread, a Facebook group post and two comparison guides. When those describe your fares or coverage wrongly, riders repeat it. Keep a press page with current fares, service areas and licensing, and send corrections to publishers when details change.

The competition

Apps, officials and rider opinion share page one

For "taxi app dubai", the ten results split three ways. Careem and its Hala taxi brand hold three places, through an App Store listing, a taxi page and Hala's site, and Yango's listing holds a fourth. The RTA and Dubai Taxi Company rank official booking and fare pages. The other four are a Reddit thread, a Facebook group post, Time Out's guide and an independent comparison guide. A new app cannot displace the incumbents or the regulator on the head term, but it can appear in the comparison results and win narrower emirate, airport and ride-type searches.

  9. 9
    UAE Experts Hub Guide website

  10. 10
Yango on the App Store App store listing

Yango's UAE App Store listing with SoftwareApplication and AggregateRating markup, showing 4.8 stars from about 39,000 ratings and user reviews.

The install page is itself a Google result

Two App Store listings, Careem's and Yango's, rank on Google, and Careem's taxi page and Hala's site add two more. The listings carry SoftwareApplication and rating markup, with 163,000 and 39,000 ratings on show. Store listing copy, ratings and review replies are therefore seen on Google as well as inside the store.

The regulator and the fleet rank beside the apps

RTA's page tells riders to book its taxis through S'hail or Careem, and Dubai Taxi Company's page names Bolt, S'hail and Careem as booking channels and publishes fares by time band. In Dubai the licensed taxi fleet is booked through partner apps, so being named on these official pages comes from partnership, not from search work.

Riders and publishers answer the price question

Four results are opinion or comparison: a Reddit thread, a Facebook group post, Time Out's guide and a UAE Experts Hub guide with fare tables and official sources. Three of the four People also ask questions are about price or choice. Google is reading the search partly as a comparison, so pages that compare apps rank alongside the apps themselves.

Where a newer mobility app can win

Not on "taxi app dubai" against Careem, the RTA and Dubai Taxi Company. Treat the store listing as a Google page, since two listings rank, and build ratings steadily. Give comparison publishers accurate fares, coverage and licensing so guides describe you correctly. On your own site, answer the price questions People also ask raises, with dated fares, and target emirate, airport and ride-type searches the big apps leave to their store listings.

How it works

Three steps, no black box

STEP 01

Map rider searches

We list the cities, routes, services and fare questions riders search in English and Arabic and check which the app stores cannot answer.

STEP 02

Build web pages and store listings

City, route and fare pages go live with deep links and schema, and store listings are rewritten for both languages.

STEP 03

Attribute installs

Installs and first rides are tracked back to pages and listings each month, and content expands around what converts.

FAQ

Questions UAE business owners ask

Answered in the first sentence, so AI assistants can quote us directly.

App store optimisation improves how your listing ranks inside the App Store and Google Play, where searches are short and mostly brand or category names. SEO targets Google, where riders ask longer questions about routes, prices and rules. Transport apps need both: the website captures the question, and the store listing converts the install.

On specific queries, yes. Established brands own their names, and some already publish city and fare pages, so a new app needs fuller answers than they give. A new app that answers those questions clearly, states its licensing and shows fares can rank for them and win installs from riders comparing options. Reviews and a fast, mobile-first site support the case.

Yes. A large share of riders in the UAE search in Arabic, and both app stores support localised listings. Arabic web pages for cities, routes and fares, with hreflang, capture that demand on Google. Localisation should be written by a native speaker, since machine-translated listings read poorly and reduce install rates.

Yes. Executive Council Resolution No. 6 of 2016 makes on-demand passenger transport booked through smart applications an activity that needs authorisation from the RTA's Public Transport Agency, valid for one year and renewable. The same resolution lists promoting passenger transport by cars not licensed in Dubai as a violation. Abu Dhabi is licensed separately by Abu Dhabi Mobility, so check both before advertising in either emirate.

Yes, with a date and the rules behind them. Three of the four People also ask questions for "taxi app dubai" were about price or choice, and Dubai Taxi Company already publishes fares by time band. Since November 2025, app-booked taxis in Dubai have a higher minimum fare and peak-hour booking fees than street-hailed ones. Show worked examples for common trips, note Salik and airport charges, and update them when the RTA changes the tariff.

Openly, or not at all. An r/dubai thread and a Dubai Facebook group post both ranked for "taxi app dubai" on 16 September 2026, so what riders say there reaches searchers. Reply from a clearly named brand account where the community's rules allow it, correct factual errors about fares or coverage, and do not post disguised recommendations from personal accounts.
