SEO for restaurants and F&B brands in Dubai
Diners in Dubai search on Google Maps first: best brunch JBR, Italian restaurant Downtown, cafe near me open now. Delivery orders start on Talabat, Deliveroo and Google. People check reviews, photographs, menu prices and whether a place is licensed before they go. Arabic and English searches both matter.
Does a restaurant need a website when everyone uses Google Maps and Talabat?
Yes, but a small one. The map results draw on the Google Business Profile and the website together, and a site with a menu page, a location page per branch, opening hours, reservation link and Restaurant schema with cuisine, price range and menu URL strengthens the profile. It also ranks for queries the profile cannot, such as private dining or iftar buffet prices. Delivery apps take commission on every order; a direct order or reservation from Google does not.
What we do for this sector
Google Business Profile per branch
Categories, cuisine attributes, menu link, photographs, reservation and order links, posts for offers and a review routine after visits.
Menu and location pages
Indexable menu pages with prices, a page per branch with hours and directions, and Restaurant and Menu schema.
Occasion and event pages
Brunch, iftar, ladies' night, private dining, catering and festive pages that rank for the seasonal searches Dubai diners make.
Delivery platform alignment
Consistent name, address, menu and pricing across Talabat, Deliveroo, Careem and your Google profile's order-online links, with direct ordering where it saves commission.
Arabic menu and pages
Arabic versions of menu, location and occasion pages, with hreflang, for Emirati and GCC diners and Ramadan demand.
Reviews and food press
Review requests, responses that stay courteous, and coverage in Dubai food media and listings that link to the location pages.

One of the most crowded dining markets anywhere
Dubai Municipality counts 8,617 restaurants and 5,240 coffee shops and cafeterias, and Dubai issued nearly 1,200 new restaurant licences in 2024 alone, so a new opening is compared against dozens of rivals within walking distance. Across the UAE, Euromonitor puts 2024 food service sales at USD 17.8 billion from more than 17,300 outlets, forecast to reach USD 20.6 billion by 2029, while rents and delivery aggregator commissions squeeze margins. Recognition has raised the bar: the 2025 MICHELIN Guide Dubai lists 119 establishments across more than 35 cuisines. Delivery is concentrated: talabat's 2025 annual report, citing Redseer, puts its UAE food service order value at more than four times its nearest rival's at the end of 2025, and Keeta entered the UAE in 2025. With 99% of the population online at the end of 2025, nearly every diner can compare menus, photographs and ratings on a phone before choosing.
- Nearly 1,200 new restaurant licences were issued in Dubai during 2024.
- UAE food service sales reached USD 17.8 billion in 2024 across more than 17,300 outlets.
- MICHELIN Guide Dubai 2025: 119 establishments, including two three-star restaurants and 22 Bib Gourmands.
- talabat's UAE food service order value was more than four times its nearest rival's at year-end 2025 (talabat Annual Report 2025, citing Redseer).
- UAE internet use stood at 99.0% of the population at the end of 2025.
Dubai Municipality's Food Safety Department inspects and rates each branch separately, and in November 2025 launched DMChecked, a unified digital platform for food inspection. In Abu Dhabi, ADAFSA's Zadna Rating puts a QR-coded food safety sticker on the front of around 6,900 outlets. Pricing rules are federal: the Federal Tax Authority requires displayed prices to include VAT, with a fine of AED 5,000 per violation. The UAE Media Council's content standards bar promoting alcohol directly or indirectly, which limits how licensed venues describe drinks packages, and since 1 February 2026 creators need an Advertiser Permit even for unpaid posts. Sharjah issues no alcohol licences and still requires permits for daytime food service during Ramadan.
What keeps restaurants & F&B off page one
Keywords in the Google profile name
"Best Shawarma Dubai Marina" is not a business name. Google's guidelines bar service, product and location information from the name unless it appears on the signage, and warn that unnecessary information can get the profile suspended. The short-term ranking lift is not worth losing the map listing in peak season.
Menu prices online that leave out VAT
The Federal Tax Authority requires displayed prices to include VAT and fines AED 5,000 per violation. A website menu showing pre-tax prices, followed by a bill with VAT and a service charge added, also invites reviews about hidden charges. Publish the price the diner pays and state any service charge.
Hosting creators without checking their permits
Since 1 February 2026, anyone posting advertising content in the UAE needs a Media Council Advertiser Permit, and that includes unpaid posts about a free meal. A tasting night for creators without permits exposes them to fines from AED 5,000 and attaches your venue's name to content that breaks the rules.
Normal hours left on Maps through Ramadan
Dubai and Abu Dhabi outlets now trade largely as normal in daytime during Ramadan, but many add iftar and suhoor sittings. Google lets a profile set special hours for periods like this. A listing that shows closed at suhoor, or open when the kitchen is not, loses the table and invites a poor review.
Editors and platforms hold the broad searches; Maps is where independents win
For "best brunch in Dubai" the first page is Time Out Dubai's guides, Tripadvisor and hotel group articles, and "iftar buffet Dubai 2026" adds deal sites such as Cobone alongside hotel groups' offer pages. Delivery searches end on talabat, Careem, noon and Keeta. An independent restaurant will rarely outrank those lists for the broad phrase, but it can earn a place inside them. It can also win the map pack for cuisine plus neighbourhood, dish-level searches from its own menu page, and every search for its own name, where a direct booking or order carries no aggregator commission.
What the top ten results for “restaurants in dubai” do
Google UAE, checked 16 September 2026. One sponsored result and no AI Overview. People also ask wanted lists: the top 10 restaurants in Dubai, the 50 best, and which food Dubai is famous for.
- 1FooDiva Food blog
An October 2021 guide to under-the-radar homegrown restaurants, still ranking: 1,740 words with article and author markup, opening on a count of about 20,000 restaurants in the city.
- 2Tripadvisor Travel review site
"The 10 best restaurants in Dubai", ranked by page views and reviews, each with rating, review count, cuisine and price band. Opened directly after our fetch was refused.
- 3EatGoSee Food critic's blog
A 6,078-word guide by a Dubai-based critic, organised by spend per person, from falafel under AED 50 to fine dining over AED 200.
- 4Best UAE Restaurants (Instagram) Instagram account
A restaurant-recommendation account, not a restaurant. Instagram builds profiles with scripts, so neither of our fetches could read anything beyond the account name.
- 5Time Out Dubai Listings magazine
"Best restaurants in Dubai 2026": 89 restaurants tested by its food editors, tied to its restaurant awards. Our fetch was blocked, so page structure was not measured.
- 6The Dubai Mall Mall directory
The mall's script-built dining hub in English and Arabic, with cuisine filters from Indian to healthy, a featured-restaurant slot and a link to its full restaurant directory.
- 7Taj Hotels Hotel group
A destination page from Taj's Indian site listing its Dubai restaurants: 3,834 words with a heading per outlet, from Bombay Brasserie to Paros, plus FAQs.
- 8MICHELIN Guide Restaurant guide
The Dubai selection, headed "1-48 of 106 restaurants", with star and Bib Gourmand filters and inspectors' notes, in English and Arabic. Our fetch found no structured data.
- 9Visit Dubai Government tourism portal
The Department of Economy and Tourism's "Dine across Dubai" hub, linking to new openings, homegrown restaurants, the MICHELIN Guide, dining deals and Emirati cuisine, in many languages.
- 10Condé Nast Traveller Middle East Travel magazine
"The 33 best restaurants in Dubai", updated for 2026: 6,964 words with a heading per restaurant, from The Cullinan to Row on 45, and news article markup.
No independent restaurant's website is in the ten
Four editorial guides, Tripadvisor, MICHELIN, the government tourism portal and a recommendation account on Instagram take eight places. The two operator pages belong to The Dubai Mall and Taj Hotels, and both list many outlets. Google reads "restaurants in dubai" as a request for a shortlist, and the People also ask questions confirm it: top 10, 50 best.
Critics and editors hold four places
FooDiva's 2021 guide still ranks beside Time Out's 89 award picks, Condé Nast Traveller's 33 and EatGoSee's budget-banded guide. Each names individual restaurants and gives a reason for including them. For this search, being written about by one of them is how a restaurant reaches page one, and FooDiva shows a good write-up keeps working for years.
Places with many outlets rank their directories
The Dubai Mall, Taj Hotels, Visit Dubai and MICHELIN each rank a page grouping many restaurants. A restaurant inside a mall or hotel therefore has a second route onto the page through its landlord's directory, and that listing only helps if its menu, hours and photographs are current. MICHELIN's inspectors choose for themselves; a tenant's directory entry is its own to keep up to date.
Not with its own site on "restaurants in dubai". The realistic route is inside the pages that rank: a claimed Tripadvisor listing with recent reviews, an accurate entry in the mall or hotel directory, and something new for Time Out, Condé Nast Traveller or FooDiva to write about. The website and Google profile should target cuisine and district, dish, occasion and own-name searches, where the map results decide.

Questions UAE business owners ask
Answered in the first sentence, so AI assistants can quote us directly.
No. A PDF menu is rarely indexed well, does not display well on phones, and cannot carry Menu schema. Publish the menu as a page with sections, dish names, descriptions and prices. That page ranks for dish-level searches, feeds the Google Business Profile menu, and is what people screenshot and share.
Ask every table, once, with a QR code or a WhatsApp link after the visit. Reply to every review, good or bad, within a few days. Do not offer free items for reviews, do not gate reviews by rating, and do not buy them. Google removes suspicious review patterns and can suspend a profile.
Partly. Google shows order buttons on the Business Profile, and a direct ordering page on your site can take orders without commission for customers who search your name. The apps will still bring discovery orders. The aim is to move repeat customers and brand searches to direct channels while the apps handle new-customer volume.
With its own Business Profile, the address hidden and service areas added. Google allows delivery-only brands if each has distinct branded packaging and its own website, and several brands run from one kitchen face extra verification. Never merge brand names into one profile. If a brand also offers pick-up to every customer, it needs permanent separate signage at the kitchen before it can show the address.
Only with care. The UAE Media Council's content standards say advertisers may not promote alcoholic beverages directly or indirectly, and fines under the media law reach AED 1 million. Keep brunch and evening pages factual about times, food and price rather than selling the drinks, and take legal advice before any campaign. The rules also vary by emirate: Sharjah issues no alcohol licences, so a Sharjah branch page should not mention drinks at all.
The most specific one that completes the sentence "this business is a", such as Lebanese restaurant rather than Restaurant. Google adds the broader categories itself and also reads category signals from your website. Do not add categories as keywords or for things the restaurant has rather than is, such as a terrace or a play area; describe those in the profile description, on the menu and on the website.
